Companion Homes

If you want an exceptional pet dog, live within 30 miles of Wabash, IN and have no personal interest in breeding...you may be a great Companion Home.

Be part of something bigger...

Our Companion Homes provide a great opportunity for individuals to have an exceptional pet dog at no purchase cost and be apart of something bigger...whelping puppies who go on to become great family pets and some whom become police K-9's which protect and serve our communities.  Our Companion Homes accomplish two primary goals; allowing normal people to have a healthy and happy pet dog with the full support of Impact Dogs' experience and expertise for free, all the while allowing the dog to live a relaxed family life away from kennels with Companions that love and nurture them.

In our Companion Homes, we look for exceptional families to join in our mission, as they get to raise our breeding dogs as their own family pets.  The dogs selected for Companion Homes are all top-pick puppies or superb adult dogs that we have purchased or reserved, which display exceptional drives and temperaments we desire to pass on to future generations.   This program allows us to
select, monitor and breed the best dogs and combinations of dogs over the long term process of developing well-tempered family companions and extreme quality police K-9's.  Each generation of breeding is carefully selected as we aim to maintain certain characteristics and improve upon other characteristics in pursuit of our goals.

In summary, our Companion Homes get a great family pet at no cost which they may keep forever, providing they work alongside Impact Dogs as required.  Furthermore, Impact Dogs provides free obedience training and advice in the care of the dog throughout its breeding lifetime and is there to help the Companion Home with any dog needs they may have.   Companion Homes are responsible for caring for the dog as they would any pet; feeding, grooming, exercising, maintaining vaccinations, etc.   As part of the program, Impact Dogs then breeds the females once a year and whelps/weans the puppies at their top-notch facilities.  The Companion Home receives no rights or financial compensation for any of the puppies produced, however they benefit from the quality of the Companion dog they get to enjoy as their pet, the free training provided by Impact Dogs, the support and advice of Impact Dogs for all their dog needs, and the assurance that they are a part of something bigger...providing families with exceptional pets, as well as, the amazing tool of police K-9's to communities around the U.S.

The relationship with Impact Dogs is continually maintained with our Companion Homes on a needs basis, meaning we aim to have minimal intrusion with their day-to-day life (provided they maintain the requirements), all the while making ourselves available to them for their dog needs.   Impact Dogs also covers all additional expenses and appointments required for breeding and administering further testing/certifications to ensure the dog has no underlying genetic issues.   Impact Dogs also provides advice in nutrition and training throughout the dog's breeding lifetime.   The most crucial aspect for the Companion Home, outside of maintaining the dog as their pet, is to monitor for the female's heat cycle (first sign of blood) and contact Impact Dogs with this information that same day.   At that point Impact Dogs will schedule a blood test to monitor Progesterone levels of the female, in order to breed the female "the day" that she is most accepting.  Most breeding by Impact Dogs is done by artificial insemination.  Once the day of breeding is determined, Impact Dogs arranges to pick up the female that day and transport her for A.I. breeding, a process which only take a few minutes.  Once the female is bred, she is returned to the Companion Home for approximately 53 days.  Approximately 10 days prior to having her puppies, the female come to live at Impact Dogs' state-of-the-art whelping facility until they wean their puppies around 6 weeks of age.  In total, each female stays at Impact Dogs for approximately 52 days a year, depending on their litter's needs.  Once her puppies are weaned, the female dog returns to the Companion Home until she is ready to have puppies the following year.

We do not allow Companion Homes to whelp or wean the puppies themselves because there is simply too much involved in this process.  Impact Dogs provides the best possible care for the whelping females and puppies, taking into consideration their nutritional needs, possible emergency complications, weaning guidelines, preventive medication schedules and more, which requires constant care and attention.

Impact Dogs works alongside our Companion Homes and desires to maintain wonderful long-term relationships with them; helping in various ways to make it a great experience that they want to repeat in the future.  However, it is crucial to understand that Impact Dogs is strongly devoted to its goal of providing exceptional working-class dogs and reserves all breeding rights exclusively, as well as all choices and decisions in regards to every aspect of breeding, and all rights to every puppy bred by an Impact Dogs female or male, with no exceptions.

Companion Home Requirements

We are very selective about who our world-class dogs get to enjoy life with.  However, if you meet the following requirements and are interested in being one of our Companion Homes,  please fill out the application form below.

Benefits of being a Companion Home:
  • Receive a premium quality puppy or dog at no cost (valued from $2,000-5,000 )
  • Receive free training from Impact Dogs for the Companion dog (valued from $500+)
  • Receive support in all requested areas including nutrition, training, problem solving and more
  • Receive all vaccinations and supplements at no cost; rabies, heartworm, 5-way, bordetella, etc.
  • Be a part of something bigger...breeding exceptional quality dogs, some of which will grow up to protect our nation's communities

Impact Dogs' commitment:
  • We will only breed females once a year (resulting in puppies)
  • We will cover all cost related to breeding, whelping, supplements, vaccinations, OFA certifications, A.I., and breeding supplies.
  • The only time we would ever remove a dog from their Companion Home is for repeated major issues such as not advising Impact Dog's of a female's heat cycle, allowing the dog to run off or roam, allowing the dog to be bred by another dog, failing to provide the food or supplements to the dog as requested, etc.
  • After the Companion dog has been bred 4-5 times (for females), full ownership is provided to the Companion Home at no cost for the remainder of the dog's life.  The dog must be spayed before full ownership is provided, which Impact Dogs pays for.   Impact Dogs may also choose to spay a female dog prior to being bred 4-5 times if we believe the dog's genetic capacity is undesirable.  If this would occur, again, the Companion Home would receive full ownership of the dog.
  • We will take back any Companion dog upon request of the Companion Home for any reason
  • We will provide support and advice to the Companion Home as is reasonably needed for the care and training of the dog
  • Impact Dogs will provide or reimburse all transportation, care, veterinary expenses and boarding during the weaning and whelping process while the female is in the care of Impact Dogs
